The Treatment — Waiting For Good Luck

The Treatment is back with their new record, “Waiting For Good Luck”. It’s the second release with lead singer Tom Rampton and the follow up to 2019’s “Power Crazy”.

There is no way of getting around the fact that The Treatment sounds like AC/DC, especially late Bon Scott AC/DC. Their songs are guitar riff heavy, are fairly straight to the point with lots of innuendo. That has been AC/DC’s formula for multiple decades and The Treatment sticks pretty close to that formula and they do it very well.

“Hold Fire” is the perfect example of this. It’s got all of those classic AC/DC elements.

There are a few tracks that vary a bit from the AC/DC sound. The opening track, “Rat Race”, has a little more 80s feel to it.

“Lightning In A Bottle” reminds me of a late 80s Aerosmith sound and is far more melodic than much of the record.

“Devil In The Details” also veers a bit from the AC/DC sound with a more melodic pre-chorus that harkens to the late 80s radio friendly bands.

The album closer “Wrong Way” and “Tough Kid” also have similar mix of AC/DC riffs with a more 80s melodic sound.

But make no mistake, even when the band veers a little away from the formula, the AC/DC riffs are still present.

Obviously, I think AC/DC fans will really enjoy this record and this band in general. They tick all the boxes that should satisfy any AC/DC fan. But I’m partial to the tracks where they venture out a bit.

Overall, it’s a solid record with a few tracks that stand out. It’s definitely worth checking out.
