Inglorious — Ride To Nowhere

This week was like Christmas for hard rock fans. Frontiers Music alone released six new records this past Friday including the new one from Inglorious.

“Ride To Nowhere” is the band’s third record. I had never heard their music but was interested to check out this record. It’s produced by Keven Shirley who has produced everyone from Led Zeppelin to Aerosmith to Mr. Big to Journey. Shirley is known for encouraging bands to play more live and his albums tend to be a little more dirty sounding (in a good way).

This album fits right in. It’s got a bit of a 70s feel to it and lead singer Nathan James has that 70s rock vocal sound going. The album’s first single, “Where Are You Now” kicks off the record. It’s upbeat with an older Whitesnake-like chorus.

The album has a good mix of heavier songs with some more melodic rockers thrown in. The album really hits its stride starting at track 3. “Never Alone” features an acoustic intro with a big chorus. “Tomorrow” is another song that has a Whitesnake feel to it as James delivers a Coverdale-like vocal. “Queen” finishes the three track run with a really cool riff that the song is built around.

The album ends with the acoustic ballad “Glory Days” where James shows off his higher vocal range. There isn’t a bad song on the record and I’ve liked the album more and more each time I’ve listened to it. This album is good enough to make me want to go back and check out their previous two records.

If you like that 70s style hard rock in the vein of Whitesnake and other British bands of the era I think you’ll like this record. The fact that they attracted Kevin Shirley to produce it shows that this band is on the rise.

Overall — 90 out of 100
