Inglorious — We Will Ride

British hard rock band Inglorious has returned with their fourth studio album, “We Will Ride”, released this month on Frontiers Records. “We Will Ride” is the follow up to 2019’s “Ride To Nowhere”, which made my Top 20 of 2019 list.

The album comes out on the heels of the news that lead singer Nathan James will be part of a new supergroup featuring Michael Sweet, Joel Hoekstra, Marco Mendoza and Tommy Aldridge. While we look forward to that, “We Will Ride” gives us plenty of reason to keep our attention.

The opening riff of “She Won’t Let You Go” gives us a clue on what we have to look forward. The opening track is powerful but still has plenty of melody, especially in the pre-chorus. James’ vocals are front and center and exhibits his impressive range.

“Messiah” has a similar heavy riff while James comes in with a lower range to start but he’s in full throat by the time the chorus hits. The spiritual theme of the track makes me wonder about the collaboration with Sweet that’s upcoming and gets me excited.

“Medusa” has a more bluesy feel at the start and James’ voice works here as well. By the time the chorus hits, it’s a little more melodic before the bluesy verses kick back in.

“Eye of the Storm” slows it down and allows James to show off his higher vocal range. The song builds to mid tempo and features a strong chorus.

“Cruel Intentions” has a short instrumental open but kicks in to one of the cooler riffs on the record. James brings an aggressive vocal in the verse and again shows off his impressive range in the chorus. A really strong track.

“My Misery” features another strong riff before laying out in the verse and building back up to my favorite chorus on the record. In lieu of a guitar solo, there’s a cool breakdown before the bridge. Another great track.

The riffs keep coming with “Do You Like It”. The song rocks but lacks a bit in substance. It does feature an impressive guitar solo.

“He Will Provide” changes things up a bit. It’s heavy and features another cool riff, but James’ vocal almost has an Ozzy/Black Sabbath feel to it. An interesting track.

“We Will Meet Again” is another album highlight with another strong riff and chorus. Really like the feel of this one.

The album closes with two more quality tracks in “God of War” and the title track, “We Will Ride”.

I like every track here and well over half the tracks are excellent. The combination of James’ powerful voice and the fantastic collection of guitar riffs makes “We Will Ride” a frontrunner for my favorite album of the year. I could nitpick here and there about wanting a little more variety, but it’s just hard to complain about such a great a collection of songs and performances.

If you like riff heavy hard rock with top notch vocals (and who doesn’t?) then you definitely want to check out “We Will Ride”. And while you are at it, check out their entire catalogue.
