Upcoming Releases

In normal years we see a large number of album releases in the late spring and early summer in anticipation of summer tours.

But this year a lot of albums have been pushed back which means we will have a very active late summer/early fall for album releases.

Here’s a list of upcoming releases that I’m looking forward to with release dates…

H.E.A.T. — Force Majeure (August 5)

The band’s original singer (Kenny Leckremo) has returned to the band after Erik Gronwall left the band for Skid Row.

Sunstorm — Brothers In Arms (August 5)

A little over a year after their first release with Ronnie Romero at the helm, Sunstorm returns with “Brothers In Arms” from Frontiers Records.

Goo Goo Dolls — Chaos In Bloom (August 12)

The band is back with their first album since 2019’s “Miracle Pill”. Frontman John Rzeznik is producing for the first time.

Collective Soul — Vibrating (August 12)

Another band with their first release since 2019, Collective Soul is back with their new record, “Vibrating”.

Nordic Union — Animalistic (August 12)

Originally scheduled for a May release, Nordic Union’s third record will now release on August 12. The duo of Ronnie Atkins and Erik Martensson are releasing their first record since 2018’s “Second Coming”.

King’s X — Three Sides of One (September 2)

Maybe my most anticipated record of the year, King’s X are releasing a new studio album for the first time since 2008’s. “XV”.

Ozzy Osbourne — Patient Number 9 (September 9)

I can only hope Post Malone does not make an appearance on Ozzy’s new record due out on September 9. But there are many guests on the record including Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi and the late Taylor Hawkins.

House of Lords — Saints and Sinners (September 16)

Somehow House of Lords are releasing their 11th studio record. Lead singer James Christian has carried on with the band long after the rest of the original members have moved on.

Sammy Hagar & The Circle — Crazy Times (September 30)

Sammy and the Circle are back after releasing the Lockdown Sessions with a new studio album. I’m a little concerned as the album was recorded in Nashville with Zach Brown’s producer. I’m hoping Sammy hasn’t switched genres again.

Dead Daisies — Radiance (September 30)

The band is back with their second studio album featuring Glenn Hughes on vocals. I do wish John Corabi was still in the band but it’s a pretty solid lineup with Doug Aldrich on guitar and Brian Tichy on drums.

Richard Marx — Songwriter (September 30)

Richard Marx’s new record includes a whopping 20 tracks featuring collaborations with multiple songwriters. Marx has written several hits in many different genres so I expect this one to be a little all over the place musically.

Queensryche — Digital Noise Alliance (October 7)

It’s hard to believe Queensryche will be releasing their fourth studio album post Geoff Tate. In my view each album has improved so I’m hoping this record will continue with that trend.

The Cult — Under The Midnight Sun (October 7)

It’s been six years since The Cult released “Hidden City”. The Astbury/Duffy combination is still together and they are due for another classic record.

Skid Row — The Gang’s All Here (October 14)

After a short stint with Tony Harnell on vocals and the passing of former vocalist Johnny Solinger, the band has settled on former H.E.A.T. singer Erik Gronwall to front the band. I really enjoyed H.E.A.T.’s last record with Gronwall so I’m excited to hear what this new band will sound like.

Alter Bridge — Pawns & Kings (October 14)

Somehow Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti have found time in their busy schedules to write a new Alter Bridge record. 2019’s “Walk The Sky” is my favorite album to date by the band so this should be an excellent record.

Orianthi — Rock Candy (October 14)

Fresh off releasing a live record, Orianthi will release her second solo record, “Rock Candy”, since the demise of RSO.

Extreme — No Title Yet (No Release Date)

The new record may not hit until 2023 but we may hear new music from the band. They have scheduled more live shows and Gary Cherone is doing a quick tour with Joe Perry. Like King’s X, the band hasn’t released a new record since 2008 so it’s well past time.
