After a fairly slow year in 2020, mostly due to the pandemic, 2021 has been a much busier year for rock releases. 2021 should have a strong finish with quite a few big records slated for release in the year’s last four months.

Here’s what I’m looking forward to and will be reviewing in the coming weeks and months.

Iron Maiden : Senjutsu — September 3

Almost 6 years to the day after “Book of Souls” was released, Maiden finally release their new studio record. Look for this review in two weeks.

Inglorious : Heroine — September 10

After releasing “We Will Ride” earlier this year, the band releases “Heroine” next month. Interestingly, it’s a covers record from all female artists ranging from Miley Cyrus to Tina Turner to Joan Jett.

Thrice : Horizons/East — September 17

Thrice has released some incredible records over the last decade. “Horizons/East” is their latest due out in mid September.

Candlebox : Wolves — September 17

Candlebox will release their seventh album and first in 5 years, “Wolves”.

KK’s Priest : Sermons Of The Sinner — October 1

Former Judas Priest guitarist KK Priest released his first record with his new band. The release date has been pushed back from August to October. The band features former Priest vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens.

Eclipse: Wired — October 8

My current favorite band releases their new record two years after their breakthrough album “Paradigm”. I’m doing my best not to listen to any of the singles so I can take it all in at once when it comes out.

Jeff Scott Soto : The Duets Collection, Volume 1— October 8

Soto’s new record is a full duet record with 11 guest singers covering songs from Soto’s career. The record features Erik Martensson (Eclipse), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Nathan James (Inglorious), Deen Castronovo (Journey), Johnny Gioeli (Hardline) and more. The track list includes songs from Soto’s time with Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, Soul Sirkus, Axel Rudi Pell, Humanimal, his solo career as well as Eyes and the Rock Star soundtrack.

We will probably get a few new announcements still to come for late October and November before things likely cool off in December. But we have some quality records to help us get through the next few months.
