A second straight George Lynch record is next. KXM is a supergroup including Lynch, King’s X singer/bassist DuG Pinnick and Korn drummer Ray Luzier. It’s a pretty strange combination of bands. The result is that it doesn’t sound like any of them but something new. There’s a lot of groove/blues going on. Luzier is a strong drummer and there’s a lot of Lynch riffing going on.

Pinnick’s voice works very well with the bluesy/groovy vibe here. I think he’s always been an underrated singer. I’m a huge King’s X fan, and while I prefer the more melodic King’s X stuff, Pinnick still shines here.

I haven’t heard a lot of Korn, but I don’t imagine they sound much like this. And there’s very little of the Lynch guitar soloing that Dokken and Lynch Mob fans are accustomed to.

But the performances are good and if you are in the mood for some modern day Hendrix-sounding vibe, this is a quality record. But if you are thinking King’s X or Dokken, you might be disappointed.
