2020 Albums We Are Excited About
And some we hope happen
The new year always brings hope of new music, and with this year being 2020 it feels like bands will try and release music to mark the new decade. We are only a couple of months in and there are already quite a few quality releases slated for the next few months so let’s start there.
Sons of Apollo — 1–17–20
I’m hoping to like this one more than their debut.
Revolution Saints — 1–24–20
Third release from the Castronovo/Blades/Aldrich trio. I’m hoping the band writes more of the material on this one.
Stone Temple Pilots — 2–7–20
Supposedly it’s a mostly acoustic album, so that should be interesting.
Black Swan — 2–14–20
Maybe one of my most anticipated albums of the new year, this new band featuring Robin McAuley, Reb Beach, Jeff Pilson and Matt Starr should be fantastic. (Get well, Robin).
Ozzy Osbourne — 2–21–20
This one has been coming for a while. I’m not the biggest Ozzy fan but any time a legend releases a new record, it’s worth a listen.
Brian Fallon — 3–27–2020
The ex-Gaslight Anthem singer has been pretty busy since the end of the band now releasing his third solo record.
No Release Date Yet
Bon Jovi — They’ve already teased the album but I haven’t heard a solid release date yet.
Foo Fighters — News came out late in 2019 that a new album was coming. Will be interesting to see what direction they go.
Ratt — At least the remaining portion of Ratt. Will it just sound like a Pearcy solo record or will it have that Ratt sound without the other members?
AC/DC — With Brian Johnson seemingly back to health the rumors are a new album is coming. How will they sound now that main songwriter Malcom Young is gone?
King’s X — I’ve been hearing they have been working on this for a while. Dug and Ty have released albums in the last few years but we haven’t heard a new King’s X record in a decade.
Extreme — Like King’s X, they have reportedly been working on a record for over a year. One of my all time favorite bands is way overdue for a new album.
Steve Perry — Every “wish list” has to end with a Steve Perry album. It worked two years ago so here’s hoping he releases more music after the success of “Traces”.
There you have it. That’s what I’m looking forward to/hoping for in 2020. We’d love to hear what you are looking forward to hearing in the comments.
