New Releases I’m Excited About Plus A Few I’m Hoping For

2018 was a good year for rock music. I listened to a lot of music in 2018 and much of it was very good. A few new bands I hadn’t really listened to before, quite a few new records from bands I love and a huge surprise that I’d been waiting on for over 20 years.

So what does 2019 have in store? Here are some releases I’m looking forward to and a few I’m hoping surprise me.

2019 Releases with Set Dates

L.A. Guns — “Wasn’t Tomorrow Great” — March — If it’s anywhere close to as good as The Missing Peace I’ll be very happy.

Last in Line — “II” — February — Looking forward to hearing this one. I thought that this might be a one and done band but glad they are back for round 2.

Mike Tramp — “Stray From The Flock” — March — Been hit and miss with his solo stuff but hoping he goes back to the heavier stuff.

Queensryche — “The Veridict” — March — Third record post Geoff Tate. I’d much rather Tate get back in the band but still should be a good listen.

2019 Releases Without A Set Date

Extreme — They’ve been promising a record for almost a year now so I’m going with it’s a sure bet in 2019.

King’s X — They have a new documentary coming out so hoping there is a soundtrack to go with it.

Motley Crue — Supposedly there’s at least four songs recorded to be released with “The Dirt” movie.

Ratt — At least a version of Ratt, this one with Pearcy and Croucier. No release date yet but have heard something is coming this year.

Richie Sambora — He’s working on something currently now that RSO is over. Have always loved his solo stuff. Hoping this one has some angst to it.

Sass Jordan — A personal favorite, she’s taking pre-orders on her new record “Big Noise”. Hoping it’s heavy as she has promised.

Shark Island — They’ve already released a single from the new album “Bloodline”. Can’t wait to hear this one.

Tesla — Like Extreme, they’ve been teasing a new record for almost a year. Banking on them coming through in 2019.

2019 Dream List

Anberlin — They played a show last month after calling it quits a few years ago. Maybe it kindled something that ends up as a new record?

Def Leppard — They’ve been teasing something this week. A new record maybe?

Journey with Steve Perry — I know it’s a long shot, but last year I dreamt of a Steve Perry solo record and it came true.
